XLella Classic Wheelchair Backrest – Bariatric Back Support with High Postural Stability
The XLella Classic wheelchair backrest is a robust and contourable back support developed for bariatric users who require stable postural support and pressure relief. Designed for users up to 300 kg, it provides high stability and comfort in the seated position.
The backrest is built around a solid aluminium shell combined with moldable foam components, allowing it to be individually shaped to the user’s body. The system can be continuously adjusted, ensuring the backrest adapts to changes in the user’s seating posture over time.
A pressure-relieving foam layer distributes weight evenly and reduces strain on vulnerable areas. At the same time, a two-layer cover and breathable airmesh panels minimize shear forces and help prevent both friction injuries and pressure ulcers. Moisture-wicking materials contribute to a stable microclimate and increased comfort.
The backrest can be further customized with wedges, lateral supports, and other positioning components to achieve optimal support and stabilization in the wheelchair.
The wheelchair backrest is compatible with many wheelchairs on the Danish market.

Construction
The XLella Classic backrest is made from lightweight yet durable aluminium, with ventilation holes in the back shell to improve airflow and user comfort.
Padding and microclimate
The backrest consists of layered foam components that provide effective pressure distribution and comfort. The cover is made of 82% nylon and 18% spandex, ensuring high elasticity. An incontinence cover is available as an optional add-on.
Cleaning
The cover is removable and can be washed at 40°C. The back shell and positioning components can be cleaned with mild detergent or disinfectant wipes.
All modifications carried out by Cobi Rehab are risk assessed and comply with MDR requirements for custom-made medical devices.
